  I have since switched doctors because I felt Smoky Mountain did not do a sufficient job. First of all the staff in the back was always very friendly and I think the people as a whole do care but there are some issues with this practice. The front staff could work on being more friendly. First of all, I went up until 20 weeks and had not seen a real doctor. The doctor I did see at 20 weeks wasn't even the one I originally had scheduled to see and I left before I even saw Dr. Keever. During one appointment I was taken back for blood work then left in a back waiting room until I saw my scheduled appointment at 9:15. After waiting for 40 mins. I walked into the back hallway (I was the only one in the back waiting room and it was freezing cold) and explained I was going to go wait in the front waiting room. At which point it was discovered the lab lady had put me in the back. They had thought I did not show up for my appointment. Again staff was very apologetic and felt bad. The main reason however that I switched was at my last appointment I was taken back and the doctor I saw explained to me I had gestational diabetes based on my fasting glucose test. She said she didn't know why no one hadn't called yet it must haven "fallen through the cracks" because I should have been notified as soon as the blood work was back. She then explained for about 15 minutes about what this would mean and that she was going to take me over to talk to an RN about diet and exercise in treating the gestational diabetes. As I was sitting at the RN's desk I noticed the paperwork and it had a different middle initial than mine. I brought this to their attention and after checking it was discovered they had looked at someone else's information (they had the same first and last name as I). Again the doctor came over and was very apologetic but at that point I was tired of the disorganization and lack of communication within the office and the overall feeling that I wasn't that important. I will also add that at 10 weeks I paid for all my future visits and normal delivery in full with cash. I feel as if once they got their money I wasn't as important. Overall I would not recommend this practice.

  I had my first child with these care givers I really didn't know what to expect and thought I was being given the run around and turns out I was! The only good thing they have going for them is Betsy Swift! she's truly an amazing mid-wife as she saved mine and my child's life. When I got pregnant with my second child they had some additions that I wasn't too excited about RUDE and uncaring staff! I went one time after I got pregnant went 3 months without prenatal care because they "couldn't" get me in. I was totally disgusted! why are they building a new facility? Oh yeah because they don't have any more caregivers in the area my advice drive somewhere its your and your child's life at stake.
